Director Kevin Keehan shares an insight to Poets Corner:

Just to the north of the Pearson Keehan office on Portland Road lies the trendy Poets Corner district of Hove.

Made up of predominantly Victorian terraced houses, the area was developed from 1880 onwards and is bounded by Sackville Road to the east, Alpine Road to the west and the railway line to the North.

Poets Corner, named after (you guessed it?!) historic poets and writers, with most notably Shakespeare himself having a street named in his honour, has seen a meteoric rise in popularity over the years.

What makes Poets Corner so sought-after? Well, it’s easy to see why professionals, families, young & old all want to relocate to the area when you list the vast amount of amenities located within close proximity. Portland Road, the main thoroughfare serving the community offers a wealth of supermarkets, childrens nurseries, gyms, trendy coffee shops, pubs and lots of other unique independent stores.

A large proportion of the residents in Poets Corner are families. By residing here, you are in the school catchment area for West Hove & St Andrew’s Schools, which are extremely well-regarded infant and juniors schools, with Blatchington MIll and Hove Park secondary schools also well favoured. If your little ones still need to burn off any further energy, then Stoneham Park offers just the place whilst parents can watch on with a nice coffee served within the park.

We have always had a strong contingent of the London market and buyers/tenants from further afield relocating to Poets Corner, moreso in recent years due to the flexible/remote working conditions a lot of companies have adopted. However, should you need to pop up to the capital, then nearby stations Hove and Aldrington are easily accessible for the commuters amongst us.

From my personal experience of living in Poets Corner, there is such a strong sense of community and people taking pride in where they live. You have everything you pretty much need on your doorstep and for the summer months, you are just a short distance from the beach.
